Skoof: Who Is It?

The term “skuf” or “skufidon” is slang that originated in the Russian online community, particularly on the imageboard 2ch (Dvach). It carries a strongly negative connotation and is used to describe men who neglect their appearance and health, lead a sedentary lifestyle, and often hold conservative views.

A typical skuf is a man over 30, often bald or balding, and overweight. He usually dresses plainly, doesn’t exercise, and pays little attention to his health. Skufs enjoy watching TV shows, football matches, fishing, and drinking alcohol, especially beer. They often work low-paying jobs, have a family and children, and tend to have conservative life views. They are prone to criticizing young people and modern trends, expressing general dissatisfaction with life.
The concept of the skuf emerged thanks to Alexey Skufin, a moderator on 2ch who actively supported Russian politics. Due to his outspoken position and appearance, he became the subject of jokes and internet memes, leading to the creation of the term “skuf” to describe men similar to him.

Memes about skufs often mock their lifestyle and conservative outlook. Although the word originally circulated only within the 2ch community, over time it spread to other platforms and became widely recognized among internet users.
